The Hilde Method · Est. 2016

A twelve‑month plan,
not a menu of services.

Our work begins before a single tool touches the hair. The Hilde Method is the way we listen, sequence, and care for the cut, the colour, and the home routine as a single, slow plan — built around the life you actually live.

Act I 01 · 03

We begin with a question, not a service card.

Every first booking at Hilde Berlin opens with a complimentary fifteen‑minute in‑chair consultation. No cape goes on. No colour is mixed. We sit, we look, we ask.

We read the hair the way a tailor reads a shoulder: where the growth patterns sit, what the last colour left behind, how the scalp behaves between washes, what the home routine has been doing quietly for the last two years. We also listen for the unspoken part — the wedding in autumn, the move from London, the editorial shoot on Friday.

That conversation is the only part of the visit that is fully diagnostic. From it, your stylist writes a one‑page Hilde Method brief: a twelve‑month map of cut, lived‑in colour, and the at‑home rituals that keep the work honest between visits.

Acts II & III

Build on the chair. Maintain at home. One plan, not two purchases.

The salon work and the home routine are a single, continuous draft — written together, revised together. Below, the second and third acts of the Method.

II Build

The chair. Where the plan becomes hair.

Act II is the technical work — but it is technical work in service of the brief. Cut, lived‑in colour, and bond‑maintenance are sequenced into a single sitting, never into three separate visits.

Cut is drawn first, dry, in front of the mirror. We cut the shape the hair wants to fall into over the next ten weeks, not the shape it holds on day one. Colour is custom‑formulated — every formula written down and stored against your file — using our 100% ammonia‑free, vegan Schwarzkopf Professional Igora Vegan line, paired with the Olaplex No.0–4 bond protocol. Bridal and editorial styling sits at the end of the visit, after the cut has settled.

On the way out, you leave with the brief in your inbox, your next appointment already on the calendar, and a small envelope of the Olaplex steps you'll use at home until you return.

III Maintain

The home. Where the plan either holds or quietly fails.

Hair is not a Saturday‑morning appointment. It is a Tuesday‑night wash, a Wednesday commute, a holiday in November. Act III is the small, daily work that keeps Act II alive between visits — and the part most salons leave to chance.

Your stylist writes your home ritual directly onto the back of the brief: the wash cadence, the brush that suits your density, the heat setting that won't undo the colour, the sleep position that protects the shape. We revisit and revise it at every visit. If a step isn't holding, we change it.

You can write to the studio between appointments — a question about a new product, a colour shift, a flat‑iron that just arrived. The chair doesn't close at the door.

Who the Method is for

If any of the following sounds like you, the chair is already yours.

The Method is built for a specific visitor. Read each profile — written in second person — and decide if one of them is yours.

  1. 01

    The expat in Berlin‑Mitte.

You arrived in the last eighteen months — Paris, London, New York, Stockholm — and you have spent longer than you'd like hunting for a senior English‑speaking stylist who works at the level you were used to. You want a single chair, not a rotation. You want your colour history understood on the first visit. The Hilde Method was built for you.

Average tenure of our expat clients: 3.2 years.

  2. 02

    The bride planning editorial styling.

Your wedding is six to fourteen months out and you are not interested in a single, one‑off trial. You want a stylist who understands shape, lived‑in colour, and the way hair behaves under a long veil. We begin with a consultation twelve months out and build toward the day — rehearsal dinner, ceremony, second look.

340+ editorial and bridal projects delivered since 2018.

  3. 03

    The colour‑correction client.

You have been referred — by a dermatologist, by a former client, by another studio that knew its limits. The previous colour is uneven, over‑processed, or simply not what was promised. The Method treats correction as a six‑to‑nine‑month restoration, not a single sitting. We are honest about what is possible, and what isn't.

Private suite & NDA‑on‑request bookings available.

If none of the three above sounds like you, we may not be the right studio. That is also a good answer.

A note from Hilde

“Hair is the slowest, most honest part of how a person presents themselves. Our work is to listen to it for long enough that the cut, the colour, and the home routine stop being three separate decisions — and start being one quiet, ongoing plan.”

— Hilde Kaufmann, Founder & Lead Stylist
